Spiritual Life
Bahamas Academy is a Christian Adventist school. At the heart of the Adventist philosophy of education is the belief that "education and redemption are one." The goal of Bahamas Academy is not only to prepare students for a life on earth but to get them ready for life in the new earth. The school days begins with a fifteen minute worship period conducted by the teachers and the students. There are weekly chapel periods and a Week of Spiritual Emphasis (Week of Prayer) twice each school year. The teachers meet together each morning at 8:30 for devotions where they get spiritual food before they begin the day. Anastacia Fergurson, School Chaplain, coordinates all spiritual activities on campus. She is a graduate of Northern Caribbean University, Mandeville, Jamaica, and also a ministerial intern at the Gambier Adventist Church, West Bay Street. A Bible Class is conducted every Tuesday and Thursday morning for students who are interested in learning more about Jesus and the Bible.
